The Qushla Square & Clock Tower

An Ottoman-era former military barracks on the Tigris built in the 1860s, the Qushla is crowned by a slim 23-meter clock tower and has been restored into a public cultural courtyard. On Fridays locals gather in its gardens and gazebos to read poetry, listen to music, and meet artists. Wandering the square is free and offers a genuine slice of Baghdad's living culture.
